How to start

  1. Download a sample and replace its data with yours.

Sample project 1 is the simplest start: two levels, block and floor. Sample project 2 has five levels, with zones.

  2. Upload your workbook below and click Run engine.
  3. Download the result: the P6 file, the one-page report and the Excel cash-flow sheets.

Trouble with your BOQ? The BOQ converter fills the BOQ sheet for you from a client BOQ.

1. Input

Advanced options (most planners do not need these)
Advanced limits (planning lead)

Hours per day must equal your P6 calendar, because durations are exported in hours. A 6-day week assumes Friday is the day off.

Fix these in the input file

Warnings

The Excel workbook has the monthly cash flow with its cumulative S-curve, and the average man days with a data table, each as an Excel chart, laid out like the sheets planners build from P6 data. The hours per trade are on its Data sheet. The one-page report opens a summary of the programme, with the dates, milestones, charts and assumptions, that you can print or save as a PDF. XER is the file to use: every version of P6 accepts it (File, Import, Primavera P6 (XER)). XML is the same programme in the newer format, for recent versions of P6.

    Target fit

    DCMA 14-point scorecard

    Direct workers per week

    Crews and splits
Activities exempt from the 21-day cap
Review list (low-confidence or unmatched BOQ lines)
Library gaps: what to add to the library first

Work the library did not recognise, biggest cost first. A "closest" activity means the library has the same kind of work, but in a different unit, so a small library change may fix it.

How the BOQ was spread over the locations

Lines that name one WBS row go exactly there. Lines that name a building or a floor, or no location, are spread over the rows below them, equally unless you entered Floor share and Zone share percentages, onto the rows marked for that kind of work.
